2008 NBA Mock Draft

Updated:   3/21/2008

  1.  The image “http://www.nba.com/media/mia_25px.gif” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors. MIAMI HEAT   -   Michael Beasley, F, Kansas State
The Miami Heat are doing a not-so-subtle job of tanking, so I'm not sure they deserve this pick if the lottery Gods have anything to say about it.
  2.  The image “http://www.nba.com/media/sea_25px.gif” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors. SEATTLE SONICS   -   Derrick Rose, PG, Memphis
What a great young core the Sonics would have at the 1-2-3, with Derrick Rose, Kevin Durant and Jeff Green.
  3. The image “http://www.nba.com/media/mem_25px.gif” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors. MEMPHIS GRIZZLIES   -   Brook Lopez, C, Stanford
The Grizzlies are a mess, especially after dealing Pau Gasol away for nothing.  They are loaded at guard, so they add what appears to be the consensus best center in the draft into the mix.
  4. The image “http://www.nba.com/media/min_25px.gif” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors. MINNESOTA TIMBERWOLVES   -   Jerryd Bayless, G, Arizona
The Wolves appear set on Randy Foye as a shooting guard, and certainly Sebastian Telfair isn't the answer in terms of a long term solution.  Bayless is a combo guard with a ton of potential who could possibly make the permanent switch to the 1.
  5. The image “http://www.nba.com/media/nyk_25px.gif” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors. NEW YORK KNICKS   -   O.J. Mayo, G, USC
The Knicks roster is very confusing, but one thing they certainly don't have is a dynamic franchise shooting guard.  Mayo reportedly went to USC because of his marketing potential, so I'm sure he'd be happy landing in the Big Apple.
  6. The image “http://www.nba.com/media/lac_25px.gif” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors. L.A. CLIPPERS   -   Eric Gordon, G, Indiana
Another one of the freshman phenoms off the draft board.  The Clippers could have a nice starting lineup of Shaun Livingston, Eric Gordon, Corey Maggette, Elton Brand, and Chris Kaman... if they could just catch a break and get healthy.
  7. The image “http://www.nba.com/media/mil_25px.gif” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors. MILWAUKEE BUCKS   -   Danilo Gallinari, SF, Italy
The Bucks add some more cultural diversity to their roster with this dynamic Italian prospect.  They could have a pretty exciting frontcout of international players with Gallinari, Yi Jianlin and Andrew Bogut.
  8. The image “http://www.nba.com/media/cha_25px.gif” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors. CHARLOTTE BOBCATS   -   Russell Westbrook
The Bobcats have a nice staple of small forwards, now they add a dynamic shooting guard to the mix.  Nevermind that Jason Richardson is on the roster... they still have to be kicking themselves for passing on Brandon Roy, so expect them to take who they deem the best guy available.
  9. The image “http://www.nba.com/media/chi_25px.gif” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors. CHICAGO BULLS   -   Kevin Love, PF/C, UCLA
The Bulls desperately need a scoring big.  Kevin Love would be a great start, and they could form a nice young rotation in the frontcourt with Love, Joakim Noah and Tyrus Thomas.
  10. The image “http://www.nba.com/media/ind_25px.gif” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors. INDIANA PACERS   -   Nicolas Batum, G/F, France
Batum is an interesting prospect, the size of a bigger 3, but the game and athleticism of a 2.  He and Danny Granger at the 2 and 3 could give teams fits.
  11. The image “http://www.nba.com/media/njn_25px.gif” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors. NEW JERSEY NETS   -   Darrell Arthur, PF, Kansas
Arthur would fill a slot nicely in the New Jersey Nets lineup... assuming everything stays as is.
  12. The image “http://www.nba.com/media/pho_25px.gif” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors. PHOENIX SUNS (from Atlanta)   -   DJ White, F, Kansas
White is athletic and could run with the Suns, while giving their frontcourt some much needed depth.
  13. The image “http://www.nba.com/media/sac_25px.gif” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors. SACRAMENTO KINGS   -   Darren Collison, PG, UCLA
Beno Udrih has played well, but he is not a franchise guy and can be upgraded.  Udrih and Darren Collison would be a very formidable duo at the point for this surprisingly solid team.
  14. The image “http://www.nba.com/media/phi_25px.gif” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors. PHILADELPHIA 76ers   -   JaVale McGee, C, Nevada
The 76ers have some good pieces, but one thing they could definitely use is a franchise mainstay in the frontcourt.
  15. WASHINGTON WIZARDS   -   Tyler Hansbrough, PF, North Carolina
Hansbrough isn't flashy but he would be a very solid addition to any team.  He'd be a great fit and would provide immediate impact for the Wizards.
  16. The image “http://www.nba.com/media/tor_25px.gif” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors. TORONTO RAPTORS   -   Hasheem Thabeet, C, Connecticut
Thabeet would provide a great defensive presence alongside Chris Bosh.
  17. The image “http://www.nba.com/media/por_25px.gif” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors. PORTLAND BLAZERS   -   DJ Augustin, PG, Texas
The Blazers have a ton of young guys at all positions with a lot of potential, but they are still missing a dynamic franchise point guard. Augustin has a savvy that could be a great fit in Portlant.
  18. The image “http://www.nba.com/media/cle_25px.gif” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors. CLEVELAND CAVALIERS   -   Roy Hibbert, C, Georgetown
Hibbert could be a solid backup to Big Z immedietely, and eventually replace him if he proves himself worthy.
  19. DENVER NUGGETS   -   Anthony Randolph, F, LSU
Randolph would provide frontcourt depth to a talented Denver roster.
  20. GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS   -   Brandon Rush, F, Kansas
An athletic guy who could fill a position in Don Nelson's small ball system.
  21. The image “http://www.nba.com/media/njn_25px.gif” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors. NEW JERSEY NETS (from Dallas)   -   Tyler Smith, SF, Tennessee
Solid player who could develop behind Richard Jefferson.
  22. ORLANDO MAGIC   -   Mario Chalmers, PG, Kansas
An possible option at point guard for an underrated up-and-coming team.
  23. UTAH JAZZ   -   Mareese Speights, F, Florida
A solid player who could fill in behind Boozer or Okur.
  24. SAN ANTONIO SPURS   -   Serge Ibaka, F, Congo
The superior San Antonio international scouting department adds some excitement to their roster with this Congo product who is drawing comparisons to Shawn Kemp.
  25. HOUSTON ROCKETS    -   Kyle Weaver, PG, Washington State
The Rockets amazing win streak occured even with instability at the point guard position.
  26. The image “http://www.nba.com/media/sea_25px.gif” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors. SEATTLE SONICS (from Phoenix)   -   Richard Roby, SG, Colorado
The Sonics add a shooter off the bench with their second 1st rounder of the draft.
  27. NEW ORLEANS SAINTS   -   Ryan Anderson, F, Cal
A solid shooter for Chris Paul to find who'll also help on the boards.
  28. The image “http://www.nba.com/media/mem_25px.gif” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors. MEMPHIS GRIZZLIES   -   Taj Gibson, F, USC
A scoring big to pair with Brook Lopez, who I have going to the Grizzlies at pick #3.
  29. DETROIT PISTONS   -  JJ Hickson, F,  NC State
A powerful athlete to continue to build the frontcourt since Big Ben's departure.
  30. BOSTON CELTICS   -   Chris Douglas-Roberts, F, Memphis
A solid young talent added to an underrated bench.
